WEST SEATTLE, Washington, June 22, 2009 (WSFB) – Although the term “Rat City” conjures up Roller Derby Girls and Brew Pubs, that term isn’t all fun and games to all of it’s residents.
Saul Moskovitz, White Center resident for the past 28 years finds White Center’s endearing name, nothing but trouble. “Why do these people have to give our fine city such a bad name? I mean, what has this city done to deserve such a shitty reputation”? Mr. Moskovitz, who has served as a chef in several failed White Center restaurants such as Pho Yo Lips, Mr. Templetons Rebellion, It’s a Gouda Sandwich Shoppe and the infamous ‘Bleu Me Italiano’ is not backing down easily. “The T-T-T-T-Term ‘Rat City’ has negative connot-t-t-tations that make us seem like we all look or smell like rodents. T-T-T-That’s a bunch of crap and I’m t-t-t-t-tired of it-t-t”. Besides working in the restaurant business around White Center, Mr. Moskovitz is known throughout White Center for his late night workouts on the treadmill at 24 Hour Fitness and his longtime contributions of Ferrel Cat Rescues and Pet Spaying/Neutering Advocacy.
Mr. Moskovitz is launching a local campaign deploring the use of the term ‘Rat City’ and urging local residents to hang signs in their driveways stating “Keep The White In Our City”. Amongst the background music of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., WSFB asked if his message might be construed as racist, he replied “T-T-T-Time t-t-t-to t-t-t-t-take back our city. If you don’t like it-t-t-t t-t-t-then it’s t-t-t-tim…..oh rats, forget it”.
