West Seattle Residents Will Do Anything For Pancakes

pcakesWEST SEATTLE, Washington, February 7, 2010 (WSFB) – Have a cause that you hope to raise money for?  Want to bring your neighbors out to discuss block watch initiatives?  Pancakes may be the answer.

Over the last few months an enormous amount of money for various causes has been raised by providing pancakes to apparently pancake deprived residents in West Seattle.  Various causes, including animal right initiatives and youth sports funding drives, have depended heavily on pancakes to entice and bribe individuals to contribute.  Local studies show that in the last three weeks the market price of pancakes is near that of oil and even gold, which is surprising to most analysts who understand the recipe of pancakes which “only a complete idiot couldn’t make in 10 minutes.”

“I love pancakes but have no idea how to make them,” West Seattle resident Yorgord Noorgord said.  “If someone is willing to grill some flapjacks and provide the syrup and butter I’ll give just about any amount of money for any cause, regardless if I believe in it or not.  They’re just too complicated for me.  You don’t have any on you do you?  I’d do anything for a fix.”

In addition, when pancakes are advertised as “All you can eat” the chances of a successful drive that pimp out flapjacks tends to be even higher.  Some think tanks are even beginning to compare the West Seattle thirst for pancakes to the crack epidemic in the late 80’s.  One person interviewed, who asked not to be identified, even admitted to have taken a large pancake he grilled as a second wife.

According to Wikipedia pancakes, also known as flapjacks or hotcakes, are “Scotch pancakes which contain a raising agent such as baking powder; proportions of eggs, flour, and milk or buttermilk create a thick batter.”  According to some residents who frequently attend events featuring pancakes the flapjacks in question are “worth losing your life over.”  One person we interviewed even offered to “take care” of any problem we had for three pancakes and a bottle of Aunt Jemima.

While some understand how to make pancakes, many West Seattle residents choose to save their pancake cravings for fundraisers, leaving the hard work to the professionals.  And to Denny’s.  And Your Mom.
