International Non-Fun Blog Burning Day: Saturday September 11, 2010

ALKINUKE_smallWEST SEATTLE, Washington, September 09, 2010 (WSFB) – Local law enforcement officials expect dozens of protesters to gather along Alki Beach Saturday evening to participate in the first annual International Non-Fun Blog Burning Day.

Protesters have suggested they will “set ablaze effigies of non-fun blogs” around which they will “dance like goats” and make “goat like sounds”.

“We’re adhering to all fire codes and are in full compliance with the law,” says protest organizer Dhill Piggel. “We intend to fully exercise our freedom of speech and freedom from oppressive politically motivated bloggers.”

A nationally acclaimed local non-fun blog has become the bane of at least 37 people’s collective existence as not only a hyperlocal source for all things peninsular but also for providing an outlet for “nosy neighbor” types to publicly and anonymously vent frustration (known as “rants”) about neighbors, city officials, local businesses, and who advocate cross-species citizen coalitions with all manner of vermin including coyotes and raccoons.

Many local residents have become disenfranchised with blogs overall as evident by increased circulation and readership of West Seattle’s only newspaper, the West Seattle Herald, which has been in print since 1923 and online the past several years and continues to thrive as they bridge the gap between the old and new news frontiers. Recent studies suggest a “back to basics” movement, where people are taking the time to get up from behind their computers, stretch their legs, grab some fresh air, patronize local businesses, and quit worrying about minute by minute updates regarding the last coyote fart incident in Fauntleroy Park.

This Saturday’s protest is set to begin at 6:00PM. Sympathetic residents are encouraged to bring women’s plus size clothing and men’s earth tone corduroy trousers as well as copies of any and all non-fun blogs to include in the burning.

I have my bikini waxing scheduled for that day, so I cannot make it. But in support of this good cause, while I am being waxed, for the entire day, I will download nasty blogs one by one on my Strawberry and then DELETE them one by one. Then put my plus size clothing back on and get shitfaced.
