Before our family Thanksgiving dinner, my mother makes us go around the table and tell everyone what we’re thankful to god for. I don’t believe in god. What should I do?

What’s helpful in these types of situations is the visualization technique. Replace god with an image of a rich, delicious, double chocolate cupcake with chocolate cream icing. “Oh,sweet (cupcake), you fill me with your goodness, when no other can. During the darkest of times, I know I can reach out for you. Your consistency during the past year, has been a comfort and a blessing. For this, I am truly thankful.”
